COMPARISON

TextForge vs email MCP servers

There are at least half a dozen MCP servers that let AI agents send email. Every one of them sends immediately when the agent calls the tool. TextForge is the only one that pauses, queues the draft, and waits for you to approve it.

MCP Server Human Review Email Provider Key Features
TextForge Yes — mandatory Gmail (OAuth) Approval queue, webhooks, attachments, Markdown-to-HTML, inbox sync, label filtering
Resend MCP No Resend API HTML email, attachments, scheduling, broadcasts, domain management
Gmail MCP Server No Gmail (OAuth) Auto-auth, read, send, search, label management
Mailtrap MCP No Mailtrap Testing + production modes, 5-minute setup
ClaudePost No IMAP/SMTP Search, read, analyze, send via any IMAP/SMTP provider
Outlook MCP (Composio) No Microsoft Graph Outlook/Microsoft 365, calendar integration

The difference is one step

With every other email MCP server, when your AI agent calls the "send email" tool, the email goes out. Immediately. There's no buffer, no review, no undo. If the agent hallucinates a recipient, misreads the context, or gets tricked by prompt injection, the damage is done.

TextForge replaces "send" with "draft." The agent calls create_draft, and the email lands in your approval queue. You review it, edit it if needed, and then send it from your actual Gmail account. The workflow adds about 10 seconds of review time per email. In exchange, you get certainty that nothing goes out without your knowledge.

When immediate sending makes sense

Not every use case needs human approval. If you're sending transactional emails (password resets, order confirmations, system notifications), immediate sending through Resend or Mailtrap is the right call. These are templated, predictable, and the content doesn't vary in ways that create risk.

Resend in particular is a strong choice for this. Their MCP server is well-maintained, the API is clean, and they handle deliverability and domain verification. If you need high-volume transactional email from an AI agent, Resend does it well.

When you want human review

It's different when the email content is generated, not templated. Sales follow-ups drafted from CRM data. Customer replies pulled from conversation history. Research outreach personalized per recipient. When your AI is composing novel content that goes out from your personal or business address, the risk profile changes.

A misaddressed sales email or a hallucinated attachment can do real damage. Ten seconds of review per email is cheap insurance against that.

What TextForge adds beyond approval

It's not just an approval gate bolted onto email sending. TextForge is a complete email workflow for AI agents. Your agent can read inbox threads and search email through Gmail sync (with a configurable retention window). It gets webhook notifications in Slack, Discord, or any HTTP endpoint when drafts are ready or replies come in. It handles attachments: PDFs, images, documents from any source.

Agents write Markdown, and TextForge converts it to properly formatted HTML email. The Pro tier adds label filtering so you can restrict which parts of your inbox the AI sees. And everything available via MCP is also exposed through a REST API for non-MCP integrations.

Can you use them together?

Yes. TextForge handles your personal and business email where human review matters. Resend, Mailtrap, or another MCP server handles your transactional email where speed matters. Different tools for different risk profiles.

You can even set up a workflow where the agent routes emails based on type: customer-facing messages go through TextForge for review, while automated notifications go through Resend directly.
