AI Email Writing Skill

A free skill for Claude Code and OpenClaw that teaches your AI agent to write effective, human-sounding emails via TextForge. Works with any TextForge plan.

What’s included

The skill pack ships two skills. Both install automatically alongside the TextForge MCP connector.

TextForge skill

Complete reference for all 23 MCP tools, organized into draft management, thread management, and attachment management. Documents every parameter, covers the attachment upload workflow, and explains draft lifecycle from creation through approval.

Email writing skill

Composition guide purpose-built for AI-drafted email. Six writing principles, HTML formatting rules, a pre-send checklist, a follow-up timing framework, and a mandatory audit for 12 common AI writing patterns before every draft reaches TextForge.

The AI writing pattern audit

The email writing skill includes a built-in audit step derived from Wikipedia’s research on AI writing patterns (CC BY-SA 4.0), adapted specifically for email. Before calling create_draft, the agent scans for and fixes these patterns:

Em dashes The single most recognizable LLM tell in email
Significance inflation “Pivotal”, “testament”, “vital role”
Copula avoidance “Serves as” instead of “is”
Negative parallelisms “It’s not just X, it’s Y”
Rule of three Forcing ideas into artificial groups of three
Synonym cycling Varying words for no reason within one email
Sycophantic openers “Great question!”, “Absolutely!”
Filler phrases “In order to”, “at this point in time”
Excessive hedging “Could potentially possibly be argued”
Generic conclusions “The future looks bright”, “exciting times ahead”
Chatbot artifacts “I hope this helps!” in an email body
Boldface overuse Bolding every term instead of genuine emphasis

Writing principles

Six principles the skill enforces on every draft:

  1. Be direct and confident — no hedging, no apologizing for asking legitimate questions
  2. Use specific language — company names, product names, “cancel” not “non-renewal”
  3. Frame questions with structure — binary choice or clear framework, not a list of possibilities
  4. Write business-focused closings — connect asks to business value, not just “let me know”
  5. Remove filler — cut context that doesn’t add meaning; get to the point faster
  6. Address recipients directly — if someone is CC’d, speak to them by name
